ประวัติทีม

ทีม “สิงโตคำราม” ทีมชาติอังกฤษ ในช่วงหลายปีที่ผ่านถูกจัดว่ากำลังอยู่ในยุคทองของพวกเขาเลยทีเดียว ทว่าสำหรับพวกที่เป็นนักเตะชื่อก้องหลายคนที่ผ่านทัวร์นาเมนต์ในศึกฟุตบอล ชิงแชมป์แห่งชาติยุโรปปี 2004 รวมไปถึงฟุตบอลโลกปี 2006 ที่ประเทศเยอรมันมาแล้วนั้น ฟุตบอลโลก 2010 ณ ดินแดนของประเทศแอฟริกาใต้หนนี้ บางทีนี่อาจจะโอกาสสุดท้ายของพวกเขาแล้วที่จะได้สัมผัสกับเกมลูกหนังที่ยิ่ง ใหญ่ที่สุดในโลกอย่าง ฟุตบอลโลก ก็เป็นได้

ฟาบิโอ คาเปลโล่ กุนซือมากความสำเร็จชาวอิตาเลียนของทีม เขาเคยนำทีม เอซี มิลาน , อาแอส โรม่า และ ยูเวนตุส คว้าแชมป์ กัลโช่ เซเรีย อา มาได้ รวมไปถึงแชมป์ ยูฟ่า แชมเปี้ยนส์ ลีก ในสมัยคุมทีม “ปีศาจแดง-ดำ” ด้วย นอกจากนี้ในช่วงเวลาที่เขารับงานที่ประเทศสเปนกับ เรอัล มาดริด ใน 2 ช่วงที่ผ่านมานั้น เขาก็ยังสามารถพาทีมคว้าแชมป์ ลา ลีกา มาครองได้ทั้งหมดทุกช่วงอีกต่างหาก ขณะที่กับ ทีมชาติอังกฤษ แล้ว เขาใช้เวลาเพียงไม่นานนักในการปรับเปลี่ยนทัศนคติของทีมเสียใหม่ รวมไปถึงลดระดับอีโก้ของพวกซุปเปอร์สตาร์หลายคนลงด้วย ซึ่งจากผลงานการผ่านรอบคัดเลือกได้ก่อนที่จะหมดโปรแกรมในรอบดังกล่าวถึง 2 นัดนั้น ก็ถือได้ว่าเป็นข้อพิสูจน์ให้เห็นถึงกึ๋น และฝีมือของ คาเปลโล่ ได้ในระดับหนึ่งเลยทีเดียว

การพ่ายแพ้ต่อ ยูเครน เมื่อวันที่ 10 ตุลาคม ปี 2009 ที่ผ่านมา ถือเป็นการสิ้นสุดการเก็บชัยชนะติดต่อกัน 10 นัดรวดของพวกเขา ซึ่งเริ่มต้นมาตั้งแต่เกมที่ แมนเชสเตอร์ ซึ่งพวกเขาเปิดบ้านเอาชนะ ออสเตรีย 1-0 เมื่อวันที่ 8 ตุลาคม ปี 2005 เลยทีเดียว

EPL has started for the third week so far…. Have you had any clue that which team will dominate this season? Is it going to be Chelsea who have a red hot start at the early stage of the season, or Manchester United who have yet to show their real strength, or Young Arsenal team who have lost one match last weekend but relived almost immediately after the young players were given a stern words from their coach.

From the immediate rebound performance of Arsenal, I am very positive that the young players are surely the hot contender for the English Premier Title this season. The young age and energy are the strength of this young team. They can beat any team in the league at their good form. However, they have to be focus which is their weakest link. Most of the players have played together for quite sometime and can gel well. After the loss to Fullham last week, they have learned the lesson well and beaten Twente in Champion League Group match during the mid week followed by a emphatic win over New Castle 3 – 0 this weekend.

Chelsea, on the other hand, has shown sign of fatigue after three matches. The first match was a fantastic one with 4 -0 win over Portsmouth, followed by another win 1 – 0 at Wigan but they only managed to draw with Tottenham 1 -1 at home this weekend. Well, thing will not look good for them if they continue to lose point like that at home…..

Manchester United has to decide their emphasis on which title they want….The mid week result did not go well for them when they lost to St. Petersburg 1 -2 in their Champion League Group match. It is not going to be easy to get the double titles again in this season.

At this early stage, it is still too early to predict which team will be the winner for EPL this season. However, if I have to pick one team it has to be Arsenal to win this season!

One of the most overlooked but important things in the world is light. Without lights there are many things that are currently taken for granted that would not happen. Whether it is a lamp in the living room of a house that people can read and do other things by or a battery picture light or battery picture lights, it is clear that light is an important visual aid. One of the best soccer, or football as it is known most places, clubs in the world is Arsenal. Arsenal was formed in 1886 in North London and acquired their name from the fact that most of their original players were amateurs, as all were at the time, who worked at the local munitions factory making weapons for the royal arsenal. From the start the club was breaking records and in the late 1800s they became the first team from the south of England to join the recently formed league. Arsenal have also been amazingly successful as a team, winning thirteen league titles, third most of any team in the country, and ten FA Cups, a March Madness style tournament that takes place over the course of a season. Also, Arsenal are the only team to ever go through a Premier League season with no losses and hold the record for the longest unbeaten streak ever, winning or drawing forty nine consecutive matches.

Another important club in English football is Liverpool. Obviously based out of the northern city of Liverpool, they are traditionally the most successful team in the country. With eighteen domestic league titles and seven FA Cups to go along with five European Cups, a tournament between the best teams from the continent, Liverpool can lay claim to being the most trophy laden club in the country. What really sets Liverpool apart though from other teams is their rabid fan base. Liverpool’s citizens are often called “scousers” a term defining their regional accent, and Liverpool fans often times create one of the most intense and amazing atmospheres at a sporting event with their constant singing and love for their team.

Lastly, the newest team to join the elite of England is a club called Chelsea. Chelsea are from the west side of London and until very recently were more known for their far right wing hooligans rather than for their play on the field. The most important event in Chelsea’s history was the purchase of the club by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, which immediately allowed them to buy some of the best players in the world and win multiple league championships.

Soccer is the most well followed sport in the world and the three clubs mentioned above in particular have done an excellent job of expanding their profiles globally and creating brands out of themselves to broadcast to new markets and expand their fan base.

There has been much speculation on the impact of recession on player wages. Most football clubs will have a level of debt. In simple terms this means they owe the bank money. In the current financial climate, it will probably be harder for clubs to raise funds for building new stadiums or redeveloping an existing stadium. Many clubs will have to be prudent with regards to all aspects of spending. Contract negotiations with players and their agents may be one area where budgets are trimmed.

The wages of professional football players have been out of control for several years. Because of the constant rise in player salaries, many experts within the game have openly questioned where it will all end. In this respect, the economic downturn may be a blessing in disguise for the vast majority of football clubs. Players will now have to be more realistic when it comes to negotiating future wages and bonuses.

Nowadays players demand a new contract if they have less than 2 years on the existing one. Or they try to engineer a transfer to another club with the help of agents. This sort of behaviour will surely be less common as clubs cannot afford to be held to ransom by ridiculous financial demands from players.

All football clubs face an uncertain financial future in the next 12 months. Not many insiders expect player wages to fall across the board although it is fair to say that they will not continue to rise like they have done in the last 5 years. In the past, players have been guilty of playing clubs off against each other. This was done in an attempt to get the most lucrative contract possible. When faced with these scenarios today only the wealthiest clubs will tolerate such conduct.

English football clubs are not immune to what goes on in the economy. There is no doubt that the recession will have an impact on player wages. Critics of the lucrative salaries paid out to modern day footballers will suggest this is a positive thing and is the silver lining in this particular cloud.
